Mark Faulkner was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, United States of America. After high school he studied at the Lawrence Technical University in Southfield, MI, where he attained a Bachelor of Science in 1988. After his study he worked as a project engineer in Coconut Creek and Ann Arbor, Michigan until 1994. Mark also had an interest in Martial arts and studied under an original Bruce Lee student, James Demile. He was in fact for parts of 1993 and 1994 a resident monk in James Demile's Shoreline school, where he practiced and also taught Wing Chun Do under James Demile's instruction.
Although Mark found civil engineering and martial arts interesting, he was looking for something to help people more directly. In 1992/1993 he completed a therapeutic massage program of 1000 hours via the Health Environment Center, and he found out that helping people directly gave him more satisfaction.
After some friends and professionals advised him to become a chiropractor, he decided to pursue that direction, and went to study at Life University in Marietta, Georgia. After four intense years of study he graduated in 1998 from the Life University, School of Chiropractic with a Doctorate of Chiropractic.
During his study he encountered many different chiropractic techniques, but felt most comfortable with the Gonstead Technique. Because of this he decided to spend extra time following seminars at the Gonstead Clinic that Dr. Clarence Gonstead had earlier established. Additionally, he followed many other seminars from Gonstead Chiropractors abroad. The Gonstead method is also the primary chiropractic technique that Mark uses with treatments. Mark is an experienced Gonstead Chiropractor that has been active in the technique for approximately 25 years.
In 1998 he opened his first clinic in Canton, Michigan. Unfortunately, due to the health of his oldest daughter his wife Debi had to stay home full-time. That is where the idea started to practice as a chiropractor abroad. In 2001 Mark and his family left the United States and went to live in The Netherlands.
After a short period (2003-2006) in Ireland they moved back to The Netherlands and started work at 'Chiropractie Brabant' in Etten-Leur.
